The NYS COVID Rent Relief Fund has been extended to 08/06/20.
-
This program can help pay up to 4-months’ back rent directly to landlords. Priority will be given to those with the highest risk of homelessness. Our AF Advocacy NY Team has partnered with Legal Hand, a nonprofit organization that provides free legal information, assistance and referrals to help complete this application. Given you have the closest touchpoints with families, please be sure to let them know of this opportunity. This application is open to anyone in need and Legal Hand is open to helping any and all who reach out. Anyone who is in need of Legal Hand’s assistance should fill out this short survey. They will be given an appointment to meet virtually with Legal Hand and they’ll receive support in completing the application.

The COVID Rent Relief Program will provide eligible households with a one-time rental subsidy that will be sent directly to the household’s landlord. Applicants will not need to repay this assistance. The Covid Rent Relief Program is not first come, first served. Applications will be accepted throughout the two-week application period. HCR will prioritize eligible households with “greatest economic and social need” accounting for income, rent burden, percent of income lost and risk of homelessness.
